Kindle Edition Verified download. I just downloaded Kindle edition today, and anxiously awaiting paperback copy. This book is pretty massive and does much more than just wet your appetite for Lync Server It covers everything from planning and deployment, to monitoring and high availability.
If you're a new Lync administrator or a seasoned Microsoft UC veteran, this book should be part of your library. I especially like that the book includes planning in the end. Paperback Verified download. I used this for my Lync deployment and it really helped.
But like all things Microsoft, all the answers you need are not in this book. You'll have to rely on multiple different sources, but this book contains a lot of great info. I would say it's a must for any newbie doing a Lync deployment. I downloadd this book yesterday and was able to get a working standard edition install running in my test lab in a few hours. The info there was accurate and helpful. There are lots of tips, but they should have included one for creating a Certificate Services server.
Very good info for a beginner. I saved a few bucks by downloading the kindle edition. Not sure if I have read the same book as others who made reviews here.
This book is really bad and I regret downloading it.
I have implemented Lync whit technical partner in our company and wanted to have solid background about what I am doing and what consequences it will have. But have found no answers in this book. If you want to know hot to click button next and you doesn't want to know, better to say you doesn't care why, then this is book for you. Just don't look for any real world best practice, tips for tasks you will face when you will administer Lync or any explanation for what the book will tell you to do.
You just have to skip passages that doesn't have to do anything with Lync and I have a feeling that they are there only for the book to have enough pages to be sold for this price. I doesn't blame the book nor the author, just me for choosing this book. I am not the right person for this book. I did not much like the packaging of the book as it was opened.
The cover of the book is very thin as compared to ther MS books which i bought earlier. The overall quality of the book is not very much impressive The content of the book is good though.
As a fan of all the Unleashed series of books for years, my expectations were high before i received the book in hand.
I had the opportunity to review a sample chapter beforehand and once i completed it i couldn't wait to get the entire book. Once again the Unleashed line of authors have delivered. I have followed Alex Lewis in the past via blogs, twitter and a few online columns so i have always been teased with his good writing styles, advisory notes and product reviews. This books takes industy exposure, his vast experience and practically combines a book into a: How To Manual 2.
Past Deployment Experience 3. Future Insight on how Lync will change UC 4.
Lecture and classroom know how The book is clearly laid out, easy to follow and obviously shows a process and line of thinking from something that has deployed Lync in complex and Enterprise environments. I used the book to deploy a lab environment from scratch and didn't stumble as much as i thought i would because the series of steps make sense as you approach installation, deploying and configuration of Lync.
It isn't a super long read for a book covering a complex product but is concise enough to make it a good go to reference tool that belongs on your bookshelf. I highly recommend adding it to your technical collection and i am also shelling out the extra bucks to grab the e-book so i can keep it on my Ipad using Kindle app keep up the good work. Up next is enterprise voice and I will be using this book almost exclusively for the configuration.
Great job and when R2 comes out I hope you have a book ready. Being a Unified Communications Consultant, I've read more than my fair share of technical books and documents on the subject.
Lync Unleashed provides a great readable way to understand Lync Server Lync Server is a big product, with lots of abilities and features, there is a lot to understand to get the most of of it. This book is a great way to get to grips with deployment and administration. It's a book I will happily recommend to my customers.
