If you have high cholesterol or high triglyceride levels, red meat can raise these further. So the bottom line is to eat a well-balanced diet. Should a person with lupus be on a gluten-free diet? If you also have celiac disease, a gluten-free diet is critical. Otherwise, there is no evidence that gluten worsens or improves inflammation in any other autoimmune disease such as lupus. Are vegetarian or vegan diets okay for people with lupus?
Vegetarian or vegan diets are okay, but you need to take a multivitamin that includes vitamin B12, as this vitamin can only be obtained through animal products. Otherwise you might develop anemia and nerve damage. Was misdiagnosed with Lupus but still found this book useful!
I bought this for a friend of mine a few years ago. She learned a lot from the book and as a result is living a more productive life. She takes very little medicine today. Although, if taken word for word could be a bit extreme, the basic ideas are very sound. I have tried several of the recipes and they are quite good. Eliminating dairy, white flour and sugar has not only lessened joint pain, but has also helped reduce sinus inflammation.
